NTN Company (, NTN Kabushiki-Gaisha)(also known as Niwa, Tomoe, Nishizono) is one of the most famous bearing manufacturers in Japan, second only to NSK Co., LTD in China. The company is one of the world's largest exporters of friction-reducing products such as constant velocity joints. It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and is a component of the Nikkei 225 Index. The beginning of the Japanese bearing industry began with the production of such bearings by rival Japanese Seiko (now known as NSK) in 1914. Four years later, in 1918, the Nishino Iron Works at Bori in Mie Prefecture began producing ball bearings. NTN was formed and split, and five years later Nishizono Ironworks began producing these friction-reducing components, which merged with Tomoe Trading to manufacture and market them under the name "NTN". However, in 1927Xizor and Tomie separated and the former company formed a new company called "NTN Manufacturing Company".
